Jim Nieuwenburg is a partner of KERN. He has 34 years of experience in the energy sector and over 20 years of executive management and corporate governance experience. Previously, he has held positions at Petromet Resources (CEO), Norcen Energy (vice president) and Amoco Canada. Highlights at Amoco include establishing the first operating energy trust in Canada (Primewest), contributing to the acquisition of Dome Petroleum and executing one of the largest oil and gas property rationalizations ever completed.
His education includes a bachelor of science in electrical engineering (honors), completion of the Amoco Corporation executive development program, and completion of the executive program at the University of Western Ontario (Ivey) Business School.
Mr. Nieuwenburg represents KERN as a director on the boards of Beaumont Energy Inc., Black Swan Energy Ltd., Monolith Materials, Inc., Corex Resources Ltd., Cutting Edge Systems, Inc. and Legacy Oil & Gas Inc., and is also a board observer for Coda Petroleum Inc., and OSUM Oil Sands Corp. Mr. Nieuwenburg also serves as an independent director on the board of Rifco Inc.
