Monolith Materials Hires John Reese, VP of Sales & Marketing
Reese brings more than 20 years of experience from specialty chemicals industry at 3M, Cabot
REDWOOD CITY, CA – March 23, 2017 – Monolith Materials Inc., a next-generation manufacturer of natural gas-based carbon black, today announced John Reese as Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Reese brings more than 20 years of experience from the specialty chemicals industry, most recently serving as the Vice President of Global Strategic Accounts at Cabot Corporation.
“John brings extensive profit and loss, and commercial experience to Monolith, and his client-centric approach to business development will help grow our relationships with the world’s biggest users of carbon black,” said Bill Brady, Executive Chairman, Monolith Materials. “We look forward to the continued growth and adoption of our next-generation technology, especially as a resurgence of American manufacturing looms.”
Prior to working at Monolith, Reese held multiple leadership positions with Cabot during a 14 year career with the company, as well as senior positions with 3M, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, and Jasper Rubber Products.”
Headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, Monolith is bringing manufacturing back to America with innovative carbon black technology that uses natural gas as feedstock instead of oil, as does the conventional process, reducing emissions significantly. Carbon black is a safe, common material found in thousands of products Americans use every day, including tires, rubber and plastics, printing inks, and batteries. A co-product of its innovative manufacturing technology is hydrogen, a fuel that produces zero greenhouse gas emissions when burned.
“I am thrilled to join the innovation-centric Monolith team as it works to revolutionize the carbon black industry,” said Reese. “Today’s companies are eager to find environmentally-conscious solutions that benefit industry, consumer and everyone in between – and I look forward to working with leading companies to make what was once a pipe dream a reality, thanks to this next-generation technology.”
John received his MBA with Honors in Finance and Accounting from the University of Chicago in 1995 and Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988.
